Ode to an Alcoholic

You came home beeping the car horn. Hundred times at twelve A.M.. You came home with a bad breath and a bad driving. You came home criss-crossing the front lawn. Stepped at your son's toy car; Ruin it, yet not get a spanking. Then still you would break your wife's vases, yet still be able to make love with her for the night. You puked at your in-law's faved couch; Came in banging the door...calling your wife a bitch! Slap her in front of your kids, unable to control yourself. You came to bed in your filthy suit and mudscraped shoes. Fell asleep...
And yet, still...
Wake up in the morning, with sweet smelling coffee,black in your favorite cup; Crisp bacon, sunny side ups, and honey glazed pancakes, served hot on your side of the table.
You greeted everyone a pleasant morning...
Kissed your wife and asking her...
"Honey, what happened to your eye?"
